8 Tools To Solve Basement Mould Problems
Moulds, such as fungus and slime, are usually found in rooms that have high moisture levels, such as bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and humid basements (especially after flooding). It is vital to try to prevent mould and mildew growth, and, if the growth process is too far along, we suggest using mould remedies and mould removal tools.

Mould and mildew release spores into the air and the spores can drift throughout your home. They can cause serious allergic reactions such as tearing eyes, dripping nose, sneezing, stuffed nose and fatigue. Mould feeds on many of the materials used to build your home, like wood, and it can cause thousands of dollars in damage. There are many ways to avoid mould, or clean it after it occurs. We strongly advise that you consult a professional, who is educated in the following methods to make sure the mould does not become a problem for you and your family.

Tool 1: A dehumidifier to keep moisture levels at around 50% relative humidity or below to prohibit mould and mildew buildup.

Tool 2: Air Purifiers to filter your air with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Absolute) filter. HEPA air cleansers help destroy drifting mould spores.

Tool 3: A HEPA Vacuum Cleaner to drastically reduce mould spore clustering in damp or wet areas, rugs and carpets. A HEPA vacuum gets mould spores before they become airborne.

Tool 4: A Vapour Steam Cleaner to clean, disinfect, deodorize, and eliminate dust mites as well as mould. This is a great tool for allergy sufferers and people with numerous chemical vulnerabilities -- especially mould allergies.

Tool 5: You may also want a mould and mildew resistant mattress. Wool and latex both naturally prevent mould.

Tool 6: Latex and wool mattress pads are useful since they are naturally dust-mite resistant and are encased by organic wool that eliminates the buildup of mildew and mould.

Tool 7: A non-toxic, chemical-free, hypoallergenic wool comforter inhibits the growth of mould and mildew, because wool naturally withstands dampness.

Tool 8: A mould test kit will help you to identify a great deal of moulds, which can cause asthma, allergic reactions and respiratory health issues. It will show you the problem areas of your home.
